Effect of G# Leak

Postby johnw » Mon Jun 20, 2016 8:27 pm

I've always found it hard getting the low notes out; but recently (just before Lymington) I seemed to be finding it much harder. I tried an experiment, namely applying the G# sharp key while playing a low D. Now that should make no difference at all; however I found that I immediately went up into the upper register. On investigation, I found that though fingering any RH keys should hold the G# pad down, it was lifting very slightly.

A quick adjustment and it was sealing properly and I got C#-Bb back! :D

Usually it's me, but this time it was the sax: I should get it serviced!

Ah but we wouldn't have these fun revelations if we got our saxophones services regularly!

How good does it feel to fix a problem? (I had similar the other week while playing in church, quick twizzle with a screw driver and I looked like a genius!)
